About Parish Council Meetings

Parish Council Meetings are normally held at 7pm on the third Wednesday of each month and alternate between Robin Hoods Bay (Wibury, Mt Pleasant North) and Fylingthorpe Methodist Church Rooms (Middlewood Lane). Speakers are often invited to update you and us on what’s happening in our area.

The Parish Council must comply with the regulations governing meetings and the conduct of meetings. These regulations are set out in the Standing Orders. Meeting Dates are set for the whole year. Other relevant policies that govern meetings include our Policy: Public Participation in Meetings and a guidance document Recording of Meetings

Public Participation in meetings.

As a member of the public, you are entitled to observe Parish Council meetings. The first 10 minutes is dedicated to public consultation. This is your opportunity to ask questions or make a 2-minute presentation to the Councillors about any topic relating to the Parish. If the matter is on the agenda, councillors will take your comments into consideration during their debate. Otherwise, the topic may be deferred to the next agenda. If we can respond to your questions immediately and briefly, we will do so. If a more detailed response is necessary, we will ask for your contact details and take the time needed. If the matter is not within the Parish Council’s remit, we will advise you on how/where to pursue it.

Once the meeting starts, public participation is ended, and you will be welcome to stay on to observe but may not contribute.

Our Policy Public Participation in Meetings (above) sets out the protocols in more detail.

Public and press might be excluded from parts of the meetings when there are confidential items to be discussed.

The Annual Parish Meeting is an opportunity for members of the Parish to bring their ideas, questions and suggestions. It usually includes a review of the year, and your contributions will help to set the priorities for the next year.

Staffing Committee Meetings are held as required. Public and Press are often excluded from these meetings as there are usually confidential staffing items to be discussed.
